Course Title: The Right
Start Date: 09/09/2026 End Date: 12/22/2026
Term: Fall Semester 2026
Description: This course examines the political right as a historical and cultural phenomenon. It explores the development of conservatism alongside the social, institutional, and organizational forces that have shaped right-wing politics, including grassroots mobilization and media. These developments are placed in a transnational perspective, with attention to connections and influences beyond the United States. Particular focus is given to the recent rise of populist and nationalist currents. Throughout, the course considers not only large-scale historical and sociological forces but also everyday experiences and sensibilities that help animate and sustain right-wing ideas and movements.
