Course Title: Architecture Represents
Start Date: 09/09/2026 End Date: 12/22/2026
Term: Fall Semester 2026
Description: Beyond the building as we experience it firsthand, how we understand architecture is necessarily framed through the media by which we come to know it. This course introduces students to a history of architectural representation techniques (including orthographic drawing, model making, perspective drawing, photography, video, and text) and contextualizes these techniques within a broader framework of media theory with regards to how the built environment has been represented. We explore these techniques through making-based exercises; final projects for this class will take the form of a narrative "portrait" of a space on campus, using one or more of the techniques discussed in class.
