Description: Through movement and lecture, this class will explore the historical and cultural influences of hip-hop and Afrobeat, which, while newer than classical forms, have rapidly gained global popularity and evolved significantly. Each session will emphasize context and the importance of understanding the reasons behind the dance. The movement sections will follow a traditional structure, featuring a choreographed warm-up, training, new techniques, across-the-floor progressions, and a review combination. Lectures will be delivered through literature, documentaries, and film clips. |
