Course Title: Advanced Topics in Politics: 'U.S. Environmental Politics and Policy' |
Start Date: 01/28/2025 End Date: 05/13/2025 |
Term: Spring Semester 2025 |
Description: Environmental concerns are no longer a niche "special interest" in American politics. Today multiplying and intensifying ecological crises are getting harder to ignore, and the need for action is urgent. Deciding how to respond to and govern a climate-changed world is now one of the defining political challenges of our time. This course examines the history of environmental debates in the United States, the diverse range of actors and organizations participating in these debates, current laws and institutions regulating Americans' relationships with their environments at both the federal and state levels, and the processes for making and implementing public policy for the environment. |
