Description: This course introduces students to funk dance styles such as Locking, Popping, and Breaking. It contextualizes the history of funk dance and examines its relationship to the evolution of African American music. Students will learn terminology and the rhythmic patterns of each dance form as they find their own relationship to the movement. This course will focus on becoming grounded in specific movement techniques through drills and combinations, and students will freestyle incorporating learned foundations and their own unique movement styles.
