| Instructor's comments about the book list: Please read carefully: different protocol than Elementary Russian! For RES 201, we will be using the intermediate-level textbook Etazhi. There is no separate in-class workbook and homework packet, as in RES 101 and RES 102; Etazhi will constitute both. It is also the textbook that both Smith and UMass use for second-year Russian, which will allow you to continue using the textbook for RES 202 at either of those schools, since RES 202 is not currently on the books for the Spring ?24 semester at Mount Holyoke. Although Etazhi is less expensive than many second-year Russian textbooks, I am sensitive to the costs that students accrue while taking courses here. Although I still recommend purchasing the textbook in a new or used state, if you are reluctant or unable to do so, I will work to help you find an alternative. There will be at least two copies of Etazhi on reserve at Willston that students can check out for short periods of time. I will also happily coordinate textbook purchasing, sharing, etc., among willing students. As in RES 101 and RES 102, I also make my own handouts, powerpoints, annotated vocabulary lists, etc., based on the RES 201 textbook materials. I will print out any such content and/or include it on our Moodle site so that it is accessible to all. I promise to help you get the most out of the course content, and make it as convenient as possible to submit your assignments to me in whatever manner you prefer. |
