Section Info: CHEM-334-01

Course Title: Advanced Inorganic Chemistry
Start Date: 09/06/2023 End Date: 12/19/2023
Term: Fall Semester 2023
Description: The implications of molecular symmetry as expressed in the language of group theory are explored in some depth. Group theory provides the context for a discussion of the structural and spectroscopic properties of inorganic compounds, particularly those of the transition metals. Topics include molecular orbital theory, vibrational spectroscopy, and electronic spectroscopy.

Additional Book Comments
This is the complete book list for this class.
Instructor's comments about the book list: We will only use a few chapters of Wulfsberg, so please don't purchase a new copy for this course. But if you have it from Chem 231, you'll get some more use out of it in Chem 334. The list price on Harris and Bertolucci has gone up to 22.95, but my.mtholyoke, in its wisdom, will not let me change it.
