| Instructor's comments about the book list: Be sure you order the 4th edition of Pharr (i.e. Pharr, Wright, and Debnar) You should also acquire a copy of the *Iliad *in English: good translations are Fagles (pretty readable, not expensive, many used copies), Lattimore (close to the Greek, lots of used copies), Lombardo (some overly modern phrases); Jordan (seems good, but I have only read portions), Fitzgerald (fairly loose, poetic--sometimes sounds like a translation of an Old English work)   |
