Instructor's comments about the book list: There will be no required books to purchase for this class. All required and almost all of the recommended readings will be available on our Moodle site, or elsewhere online with a link on our Moodle site. Two exceptions: 1) Those who are preparing for teacher certification may wish to purchase any recent edition of John Mack Faragher, et al., Out of Many: A History of the American People, Volume 2 (published by Pearson), as an adjunct to our course. Selected material from Faragher will be included in our course. Purchase of Faragher is recommended only for those who wish to have a fuller sense of a textbook approach to the US history survey. 2) Those who wish to have some additional guidance, in book form, to strengthen their writing, may wish to purchase any recent edition of Mary Lynn Rampolla's Pocket Guide to Writing in History, or Ann Raimes (and Susan K. Miller-Cochran), Keys for Writers, or Pocket Keys for Writers.
