| Description: Have you ever wondered how a language's socio-historical and political context shape our everyday language? Would you like to explore how a language or linguistic variation may have shaped experiences in your life and the lives of the ones around you? In this course, we'll explore how language ideologies, at different historical times and places, have an impact on our current language identities and community belonging. We'll first focus on Spanish in contact with indigenous languages, then Spanish in the U.S., and we'll finish by exploring your own language experience. |
