Description: In this course we will consider the biochemical and cellular characteristics that are shared by all living creatures due to our common heritage, as well as the incredible diversity of different forms and functions that evolution has produced. We will then take a closer look at the diversity of life represented among plants and animals, exploring the cellular, anatomical, and physiological systems that have evolved to help organisms live in their physical and chemical environment. In labs, students will seek to answer questions about how organisms survive in nature, by studying their structure and function, ecology, and evolution.
