| Instructor's comments about the book list: If you are trying to prioritize your purchases: Histoire de France is happily available as a PDF on our Moodle site - we will be reading this and you will have questions to answer in a reading guide. The next most important book is M-C Agnant's Le Livre d'Emma. The author will be visiting our class to discuss the book with us. I have selected fairly inexpensive editions of Candide and Ourika, but if you find another edition for these, or for the Baudelaire, which is cheaper, that is absolutely fine. ALSO: if you are happy to use an ebook version, Ourika is available for free through HathiTrust - however, please note that this is a borrowing system, so you cannot download the book and if another user is reading it, you will have to wait. Consequently, it is less convenient, but does offer free, emergency access. I will be sending out an email by Friday August 7 with the links for free HathiTrust editions. Ourika : the original French text / Claire de Duras ; edited by Joan DeJean ; introduction by Joan DeJean and Margaret Waller (Modern Language Association of America, 1994) Le Spleen de Paris is available as an ebook through the library: https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/mtholyoke/detail.action?docID=20 86954   |
