Additional Book Comments
This is the complete book list for this class.
Instructor's comments about the book list: A word of explanation. The third text is an English translation. We will read the Iphigenia in English in the last part of the class. The first two texts give you an option. The Bryn Mawr commentary is cheap but it is only a commentary. You would have to use an online text perhaps such as can be found at the Perseus Digital Library. The other text edited by E.R. Dodds is a famous edition of the Greek text with a much fuller commentary than Causey's, but it is expensive. Amazon is selling it new for $67 and a good used copy for about $50. You can choose which way you go. Even it's okay to use another translation of the Iphigenia, although the Univ. of Chicago Press editions are pretty good.
