Instructor's comments about the book list: NOTE 1: Be sure to purchase the 4th edition. If you buy a used copy of the 4th edition, it may lack some corrections, but I will provide a list to bring it up to date. NOTE 2: On your own, please procure a copy of the Iliad in English. Possible translations include those by Fagles, Lombardo, Lattimore, Fitzgerald, Jordan, Verity, & Alexander. Of those I have read, Fagles is the easiest to find and an engaging read. Lombardo is sometimes too colloquial. Lattimore has an archaic feel, but can be difficult to read. Fitzgerald is poetic, but strays from the Greek a bit.
